How trauma may affect the lives of queer and transgender people and what they can do about it
New post looks at how psychological distress may play out among queer and transgender people and give you an introduction to the concepts of trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD (CPTSD) in an LGBTQ+ setting.
My wife Sally has written a post about trauma, PTSD, and the suffering many queer and trans people go through. She presents a wide variety of ways to handling such trauma.
LGBTQ+ people unfortunately experience bullying, harassment and even violence more often than most people. In addition, many of us do not have safe ways to explore our sexuality or gender identity. This makes us vulnerable to sexual trauma. LGBTQ+ people are also more likely to be homeless than others. Being unhoused can be a trauma in itself. And it makes people especially vulnerable to violence.
Highlights from Transgender World:
Trans Express on tumblr becomes Transgender World
Our tumblr transgender news curation blog is now to be known as Transgender World.
Because we are in the process of giving all our social media accounts the same profile and name.
We are helping transgender people and trans sympathizers from all over the world get access to the latest transgender news and resources.
The Tumblr Transgender World is one of several Transgender World news channels:
We are now working on splitting the tumblr blog from the site. That is: We are in the process of setting up a new Transgender Express site using the trans-express.lgbt domain, which will contain most of the content now found on tumblr. We will continue to update the tumblr account, but that blog will not be visible for the search engines.
