The new chair of the UK LGBTQ organization Stonewall displays a dangerous naiveté in her defense of JK Rowling and British transphobic TERFs in an interview with The Guardian. She must resign now.
My literal first thought was “that does not make sense, you cannot fight for trans rights and say you respect JK Rowling and have both of those things be true. That is literally like saying “nazis are bad and we should get rid of them, but that Goebbels guy is pretty chill” like WHAT?!
And then you also made a comparison similar to that. Yeah, anyone who is a literal leader of an LGBTQ+ organization absolutely should not be spouting about respect when it comes to someone who posts and actively supports anti trans bullshit as if that’s what made her her fortune. That literally cannot make sense
I think I agree that as the leader of Stonewall her position is untenable. Though as a lesbian, she is and can be part of that TERF group... not that I condone that.
Some places are "moving on" Sinister Wisdom" is transwomen inclusive, it was not always thus. And, I dont doubt, some members have left.
Is it such an ask to be included (if hate and fear can be put aside). Together we stand, divided we fall, Joy Laden's book "Out of Nature" describes the situation it well.
Doesn't she realise that the reason she, as a lesbian, like us all feels unsafe to hold her partners hand in public is because of bigots like Rowling. They have waged a non stop campaign on anybody who doesn't fit in with her hateful agenda. Her appointment to Stonewall needs to be stopped, otherwise Stonewall is finished.
